IEBA Isle of Man hosts successful employee mental health event

As a leading international jurisdiction for employee benefit solutions, the Isle of Man became, in late 2022, the first recognised international finance centre to form a branch of the International Employee Benefits Association (IEBA).

On 25th April 2023, this newly formed branch of IEBA held its first learning and professional development event at Douglas Bay Yacht Club. The format was a breakfast seminar, attended by more than 60 people and focused on mental health in the workplace. It was open to all Isle of Man IEBA members plus guests from around the Island’s HR and general business community and was kindly sponsored by HSBC.

There were two keynote presentations, the first from local mental health support charity Isle Listen which provided valuable instruction for employers in identifying mental health challenges in employees and providing support. The second, from local business Omnia Mind, provided an insight into some of the key strategies they have developed to help organisations develop mental health resilience within the workforce.

Chair of the Isle of Man Branch, Mike Batey, commented:

It was great to see such a strong turnout for this event which speaks volumes about the importance placed on employee mental health by responsible employers. We were privileged to have such knowledgeable and engaging speakers covering two very different angles on this subject.  Our member feedback has been extremely positive. The same can be said of our guest contingent who we hope now will be encouraged to join IEBA having seen the value that membership can provide. We are very grateful to HSBC’s sponsorship which allowed us to open this up to non-members.

IEBA is the world's leading association providing education, information and professional development opportunities in the constantly evolving world of International Employee Benefits and has over 800 members worldwide.
